Heathfield High School offers our students and staff a comprehensive range of facilities
to support our learning programs.
|
Resource Centre
|
Our Resource Centre provides a focal point for learning in the school. Richly resourced,
this Centre is flexibly designed to cater for the changing needs of students and
staff. As you walk though our Resource Centre you will see students reading novels
in quiet reading corners, others searching for texts to support them in their assignments,
others working in small groups on a shared research task, others engaged in discussion
with our teacher librarians, whole classes working with their teachers on a designated
topic, senior students engaged in private study and students sitting at computers
engaged in research and completing assignments.

Heathfield High School is proud to host the Adelaide Hills Murraylands Commercial
Kitchen Skill Centre. This $600,000 facility with modern, state-of-the-art facilities,
allows us to provide fully-accredited, full-certificate hospitality training for
students from secondary schools throughout the Adelaide Hills and Murraylands region.

Information Technology
|
The school boasts a fully-networked computing system with leading-edge software,
and broadband Internet access and e-mail access for all students and staff. We continue
to strengthen and extend our computing resources in our four large designated computing
rooms, the Resource Centre, Art and Design workshops, our Film and Media Room, teaching
classrooms, and in small computing pods around the school. A new, portable wireless-networked
computer laboratory is also available for classroom use.

|
Physical Education and Sport
|
Heathfield High School is located on spacious grounds, surrounded by native bushland.
A gymnasium, four ovals and tennis, basketball and netball courts support the broad-based
sports program available to all students. Plans for a community Sports Complex to
be built on the grounds of the school adjacent to our existing gymnasium have been
approved. This 3 million dollar facility should be ready for use by July 2007.

Home Economics
|
Heathfield High School students undertake Year 8 to 12 home economics courses in
a brand new domestic kitchen, unparalleled in design and quality. A fully-refurbished
fabrics and design room complements our outstanding facilities for this area of
learning.

|
Design & Technology
|
Our Design and Technology Centre is well equipped for students to participate in
courses in Woodwork, Furniture Construction, Metalwork and Pedal Prix, and has a
fully-equipped dark-room laboratory where students learn and develop photographic
skills.

Student Facilities
|
Our senior school students enjoy facilities which support them as emerging adults.
The Year 12 Reception Area is equipped with individual pigeonholes for each Year
12 student, maximising communication with young adults whose schooling includes
a flexible day arrangement. Meetings with mentor teachers take place in this area.
A Year 12 kitchen and outdoor café, complete with drop-down, clear-plastic café-style
blinds and portable gas heaters for those colder winter days, provide Year 12 students
with their own trendy and comfortable area during recess and lunch breaks.

School Hall
|
Heathfield High School is fortunate to have a School Hall which is large enough
to accommodate the whole school. At regular whole-of-school assemblies we celebrate
the many and varied outstanding achievements of students, welcome and farewell our
overseas guests and promote the successes of the school to our wider community.
