The Heathfield High School community strongly believes that students gain enormous educational and personal benefits though exposure to international cultural experiences. As a result, we host an active and growing range of International Programs, both for overseas students wishing to come to South Australia, and for Heathfield High School students wishing to travel overseas.
For overseas students, Heathfield High School is an ideal destination. While the school is located just fifteen minutes from the centre of a modern, vibrant city of about one million people, it is set in a beautiful semi-rural, hills environment. The school is surrounded by native bushland, and there are several wildlife and conservation parks within minutes of the school. This unique combination allows students to experience the best of the unique Australian fauna, flora and lifestyle, whilst still having access to all of the facilities of the city of Adelaide.
Heathfield High School works in conjunction with, and hosts students from, a variety of not-for-profit student exchange organisations. Our exchange students come from a wide range of countries, and usually attend Heathfield High School for between six and twelve months. The sponsoring organisation provides home-stay accommodation, and arranges the enrolment of the exchange student at Heathfield High School. Exchange students needing to return to schooling in their home country after the exchange can choose from a formal academic program of study, whilst other exchange students, who have perhaps completed school in their home country, can opt for a more cultural/experiential program of study that is suitable for their interests and needs.
Heathfield High School has obtained accreditation as an International Student Exchange Organisation. As a result, we are able to organise student exchanges direct to Heathfield High School, without the necessity for international students to deal with another exchange agency. As some important conditions apply, it is important for international students wishing to apply to exchange direct to Heathfield High School to contact our Director of International Programs.
Each year, Heathfield High School organises a number of not-for-profit Student Exchange Agencies to present information about student exchanges to interested students and their parents. Students and families from a number of surrounding schools are invited to attend. Details for this annual event will be published in the 'What's On' section of our website.
Heathfield High School students also have the opportunity to participate in regular international tours which focus on the art, language and culture of other countries.
