The 2013 Lunch and Crunch was a great success despite rain all day and everyone playing indoor. The modified game play of "King of the court" was a lot of fun and everyone was involved at all times. Parents and teachers praised the work of the Heathfield students who made the day even more fun for the players.
A fantastic weekend for the U15 teams that played last weekend. Everyone gained valuable competition practice and Heathfield were in both Grandfinals with both narrowly going down to very strong Norwood teams 15-12 in the deciding set.

After a great weekend of not dropping a match, the boys team defeated Bendigo Academy 3-0 in the Grand Final. Excellent blocking and great defence created plenty of opportunity for the many hitters in the team. Everyone played well, but the stand outs were Damien Nicholls as the Libero, Jordan Colotti setting superbly and Regan Fathers dominating the attack. The girls were in Division 1 and played well all weekend, just missing 3rd in their pool on percentage. They finished with a comfortable win to finish 7th in a very strong competition. Mia Suraharjo was awarded the MVP for that division.

A fantastic week was had by all with great results in both boys and girls. More importantly the playing group worked extremely hard on and off the court making it a superb week for the staff, adult and student coaches and the parent helpers.
Final Results : Boys Team 1 - Bronze, Team 2 - 5th and Team 3 - 9th out of 13 teams. Girls Team 1 - Bronze and Team 2 - 9th out of 14 teams.
A huge thank you to Henry Breen, Mia Heikkonen, Cimon Lee, Janice Scott, Henry Clough and Jake McIntyre for giving up a week of their holidays to coach during the week. A massive thanks to Tony and Mandy Mark-Seymour for feeding the hungry hoards and they were well supported by Rob and Jenny Ambagtsheer.
Stuart Scott (SIV Manager)
Great photos from the week
Both teams were placed in division 3/4 due to the situation in Christchurch where no International teams were put in Division 1/2 for the top 32 teams. The boys won their way into the final of division 3 and went down in the first two sets to a well drilled team from Timaru. Fighting back to win the next three was very exciting in a tough, hard fought encounter. The girls had a couple of strong teams to start the week and ended up in Division 4. They won their way into the semifinals and lost in a very tight 5 set match. They bounced back to win the bronze in a high quality match.
