SUBJECT OVERVIEW

Students are given the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge of food preparation through planning and preparing a range of food items with a focus on food hygiene, healthy food choices and recipe design. With a focus on sustainability, they work independently to plan, design and make a textile product.

Topics may include

Food topics will vary to meet needs of the group, but may include:

  • kitchen and food safety
  • healthy food choices
  • recipe design


With sustainability as a focus, textile topics may include:

  • machine safety
  • pattern understanding
  • construction of product

ASSESSMENT

Students are assessed against the technology and health and physical education Australian Curriculum achievement standards.

  • practical applications
  • written evaluations
  • written assignment
  • class participation

Additional Information

In some instances, students may wish to bring extra ingredients and materials for presentation of work to supplement those provided by the school.

Students may wish to provide their own fabric for the textile unit.
