09 Design A

Year 9:  1 Semester / The Arts

Students will be introduced to the world of design in relation to product and career. The design students will explore the design process within units of visual communication projects. Students will focus on both traditional technical drawing skills and computer skills based on the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite. Students will be introduced to the history of design incorporating practical components to make a product. Students will set a brief and evaluate their process and designs.

  • adobe indesign/ illustrator/ photoshop tutorials
  • graphic design
  • visual study design movements
  • environmental design
  • visual study architecture


  • fashion design
  • visual study fashion design
  • reflection and evaluation
  • design and arts specific language and analysis


Students are assessed against the visual arts australian curriculum achievement standards:

  • folio of development relating to design brief and process
  • practical products
  • visual study: analysis of design careers and history of design
  • reflection evaluation of others and own design practice
