SUBJECT OVERVIEW

Students will continue to develop competency in the fundamentals of visual art. Students will also contribute to art studio practice by learning 2D skills and 3D techniques, including digital technologies involved in arts practice. Students will be supported in experimentation, creativity and confidence in expressing themselves practically and theoretically working with a range of mediums. Students will be introduced to historical and contemporary artists, analysing artworks and experiencing the techniques and qualities within the work that they can apply to their own practice. Students will also reflect and evaluate practitioner's work.

  • Observational drawing
  • Colour theory, painting techniques including digital technologies
  • Perspective drawing including digital technologies
  • Ceramics
  • Visual study
  • Collage as media in art, including digital technologies
  • Reflection and evaluation
  • Arts specific language and analysis
  • Artist Profile
  • Printmaking

(can choose Visual art A and B for the full year)

ASSESSMENT

Students are assessed against the Visual Arts Australian Curriculum achievement standards:

  • Folio of development
  • Practical artwork/products
  • Visual study: analysis of art movements reflection evaluation of others and own arts practice

Students will require:

  • A4 visual art diary
  • $10 excursion fee
  • Lead pencils
  • Coloured pencils
  • Eraser
  • Ruler
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • 0.4 felt tip black fine liner
