SUBJECT OVERVIEW
Creative Futures is an exciting year 10 subject designed for students who are curious about the arts but not yet ready to specialise in a single discipline. Blending creativity with entrepreneurial thinking, this course allows students to explore a range of artistic fields—including visual art, media, drama, and design—while building real-world skills relevant to the creative industries.
Students will be encouraged to think like creative professionals: generating original ideas, developing and managing projects, and presenting their work to authentic audiences. They will also explore the business side of the arts, including self-promotion, freelancing, and the impact of creative work on the wider economy.
The course has strong links to the local community, offering opportunities to collaborate with artists, cultural organisations, and industry professionals. These experiences help students see how the arts function beyond the classroom and inspire them to consider creative pathways for their future.
Creative Futures also serves as a valuable foundation for students considering the SACE Stage 1 Creative Arts course, equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to pursue further study in the creative field.
