This course has a ‘traditional’ materials focus. Students design, produce and assemble a product that employs traditional design principles, production and assembly techniques. Students may explore a range of materials while further developing their skills in the safe use of selected portable tools and fixed machines. Students develop a design folio that includes their investigation, planning, designs and costing. Students will incorporate various materials and methods when fabricating their projects to help them develop important skills such as project management, understanding materials and process, communication and problem solving.
Topics may include
safe use of static machines
joint and frame construction
assembly and finishing techniques
3D design and modelling
safe use of portable power tools
contempory construction may also be used throughout the semester
