SUBJECT OVERVIEW

Students will focus on advanced compositional and lighting techniques used in all digital media imagery, both static and dynamic. Students will learn how to use the manual settings of a DSLR camera and its creative output on digital imagery. They will refine their manipulation skills, working with Adobe Creative Suite to create collages, special effects, and persuasive 2D print and digital media in response to media analysis of arts works and artists. Students will critically analyse digital media as a creative arts practice.

This course may lead to Stage 1 Creative Arts, or Stage 1 Visual Art Art/Design.

Topics may include

  • digital photography – manual DSLR
  • studio lighting
  • history and development of digital media and impacts
  • desktop publishing using Adobe InDesign
  • digital imaging using Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom
  • animation and film making (special effects)
  • digital drawing
  • investigation: media arts

Students are assessed against the Media Arts Australian Curriculum achievement standards:

  • folio of practice
