SUBJECT OVERVIEW

The Windows to Construction course is a semester program that is a highly practical one which is supported by theory and is designed for students wishing to explore a career in the building and construction industry. The focus is on providing hands on practical experience in the trade areas of carpentry, plumbing, landscaping, joinery, plastering, plaster board fixing/flushing and gardening. This course is intended for only those who are interested in applying for Certificate II Doorways to Construction and other construction/trade VET courses as well as those interested in School Based Apprenticeships and full-time Apprenticeships. Without selecting this course students will not be eligible to apply for several VET courses with the AHSP partnership, specifically those requiring the White Card training.

ASSESSMENT

Students are assessed through formative and summative that cover the Design and Technology Australian Curriculum achievement standards within the following content descriptors:

  • Knowlegde & understanding - Materials and technologies specialisations
  • Processes & production skills including the following:

    • investigating and defining
    • generating and designing
    • producing and implementing
    • evaluating
    • collaborating and managing

Cost: $30.
