SUBJECT OVERVIEW

The course is designed for students interesting in pursuing careers in digital technologies, software development and interactive systems. It focuses on building practical skills in coding, digital project management and the development of interactive applications and systems. Students will explore a range of technologies and programming environments to design and implement functional digital solutions.

Key areas of focus include interactive storytelling with Ren'Py and Twine, and game/app development using engines such as Unity (C#), Godot (GDScript) and G-develop. Web development using HTML, CSS and JavaScript will also be explored, along with frameworks such as React or Bootstrap.

ASSESSMENT

Students will complete several different assessment tasks both formative and summative associated with learning content throughout the subject, these will be assessed against the SACE Achievement Standards. Students will focus on  using critical and creative skills to create digital outcomes and solutions to issues.

Assessment will be in the following forms:

  • Practical Exploration (30%)
  • Connections (40%)
  • Personal Venture (30%)

The major assessment will involve the creation of a real-world digital artefact - this could be a fully functional 2D or 3D game, a choice-based visual novel, a mobile app prototype, or an interactive website - allowing students to showcase both creative and technical skills.
