Pre-Requisite:  An achievement level of “C” or better for year 10 drama and/or year 10 literacies

SUBJECT OVERVIEW

Students who study drama at SACE Stage 1 level refine their skills and have deeper understanding to generate creative and imaginative solutions to the staging of theatrical works. Students extend their performance techniques and theory practice. Students consider diverse perspectives and challenge their own thinking, developing confidence in their personal ideas. Students analyse texts and other materials to influence their own performance and purpose to communicate to the audience. The focus of this course is modern innovative technologies, practitioners, theatre styles and play scripts. Drama students integrate creative and critical thinking, problem solving, and collaboration whilst creating onstage and offstage products.

Topics may include

  • presentation of dramatic works
  • dramatic theory and practice including analysis, evaluation and production
  • individual investigation and onstage or offstage presentation of specific genres
  • opportunity to respond to live theatre/workshops

ASSESSMENT

Students are assessed against the SACE year 11 (Stage 1) Drama performance standards.


Students demonstrate their learning through the following assessment tasks:

  • planning and production
  • responding to drama
  • creative synthesis
  • annotation of evidence

Additional Information

A definite commitment to after-hours rehearsals and performances are required.

Costs: $50.00 for live performances.

Fees may change prior to January 2024 when invoices are sent.
