Pre-Requisite: Satisfactory Achievement of year 10 outdoor education would be an advantage, though not a requirement

SUBJECT OVERVIEW

This course is designed to extend students’ practical performance skills and their knowledge of a range of theory topics pertaining to outdoor adventure activities. The course is comprised of theory topics, two practical activities and one expedition during the semester.

Topics may include

Practical components include:

  • rock climbing (3 day excursions)
  • bushwalking (3 day camp)

Theory components include:

  • environmental studies
  • planning and management practices
  • outdoor journeys
  • sustainable environmental practices
  • leadership and group dynamics

ASSESSMENT

Students are assessed against the SACE Stage 1 Outdoor Education achievement standards.

  • written evaluations

Additional Information

Costs: Course fee $450.00 to cover costs associated with each of the two expeditions and lead up activities – subject to change in 2020.

In selecting this subject students will need to be prepared to undertake aspects of the course out of normal school hours, especially the expeditions and lead-up activities.
