11 Physical Education A

SACE Stage 1: 10 Credits / 1 Semesters / Responsible Living

Pre-Requisite: Successful completion of a year 10 responsible living subject.

SUBJECT OVERVIEW

Through physical education, students explore the participation in and performance of human physical activities. It is an experiential subject in which students explore their physical capacities and investigate the factors that influence and improve participation and performance outcomes, which lead to greater movement confidence and competence.

Students will participate in a variety of physical activities potentially including: Touch, Flag Football, Netball, Basketball, Team Handball, Lacrosse and Sailing.

With a strong focus on data collection and analysis students will use various technologies (drone footage, video, HR monitors), to analyse and improve performance, participation, collaboration and communication.

This program prepares students for SACE Stage 2 Physical Education.

Topics may include

All topics are taught through practical play. Students will explore:

  • exercise physiology, fitness and movement concepts and strategies in an invasion game
  • barriers to participation in physical activities including aquatics and a variety of other sports.

ASSESSMENT

Students are  required to demonstrate learning  in two assessment tasks.

   Performance Improvement (50%)

Analysis of movement performance and consider ways to improve performance.

   Physical Activity Investigation (50%)

Intergration of movement concepts to reflect on factors that enhance performance outcomes.

Additional Information

Costs:  Course fee of $80.00 includes the two days aquatics activities.

Fees may change prior to January 2024 when invoices are sent.


The Heathfield High School PE shirt must be worn for practical lessons.

Students can not undertake both Stage 1 PE A and Stage 1 Volleyball A.

All subject costs are subject to approval, are approximate and subject to change in 2024.
