11 Product and Architectural Design A

SUBJECT OVERVIEW

This course focuses on engineering and product design skills.

Students will develop skills and understanding in the use of 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Manufacture (CAM).  Students will then design and manufacture a product to a design brief.  This exciting, state of the art course, requires students to develop advanced design skills with industry CAD software, Autodesk Fusion 360, and CAM skills in 3D printing, laser cutting, or CNC routing to produce an engineered product that meets their design brief.

  • Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machining
  • product design principles and methods

ASSESSMENT

This subject consists of two assessment types:

  • specialised skills tasks – 30%
  • design process & product – 70%

Students are assessed against the design, technology and engineering SACE performance standards:

  • investigation and analysis
  • design, development and planning
  • production
  • evaluation
