SACE Stage 2:  20 Credits / 2 Semesters / Responsible Living

Pre-Requisite:  Successful completion of either a Stage 1 Physical Education or Stage 1 Volleyball subject

SUBJECT OVERVIEW

Through physical education, students explore the participation in and performance of human physical activities. It is an experiential subject in which students explore their physical capacities and investigate the factors that influence and improve participation and performance outcomes, which lead to greater movement confidence and competence.

With a strong focus on data collection and analysis students will use various technologies (e.g. drone footage, video, HR monitors), to analyse and improve performance, participation, collaboration and communication.

Topics may include

All topics are taught through practical play.

Students will explore a range of sporting activities potentially including Volleyball, Badminton, Touch, Aquatics, Team Handball, Netball, Basketball, Golf or Gaelic football depending on the student group.

ASSESSMENT

Students are assessed against the SACE Stage 2 Physical Education achievement standards.

There are three assessment types:


Diagnostics:

Students will participate in two or three main sports. They will collect, analyse, and evaluate evidence to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of movement concepts and strategies.


Improvement analysis:

Students undertake a personal journey of improvement in a physical activity. They design a program to improve themselves, collect evidence of their progress, and evaluate their improvement.


Group dynamics:

Students participate in a sport, and take on two roles as part of a team in a competition. They demonstrate leadership skills in the role of either a tactical coach, fitness coach, motivational coach, or technical coach.

Costs: Course fee $120.

Fees may change prior to January 2024 when invoices are sent.


A ‘B’ grade or above in either a Stage 1 Physical Education or Stage 1 Volleyball subject.
